Global Italian food marketplace Eataly is preparing to open a 20,050-square-foot location at Centre at Post Oak, marking the brand’s first entry into the Houston market. The $11.5 million project is expected to be completed this fall and will deliver a mix of restaurants, cafés, bars, specialty food counters, and visitor experiences inspired by Italy’s regional culinary traditions.

A Destination for Uptown

The Centre at Post Oak location places Eataly in one of Houston’s most affluent commercial corridors, surrounded by high-end retail, luxury residential developments, and some of the city’s busiest office towers. The complex is also undergoing a separate mixed-use expansion — Central Park Post Oak — that will add more than 150,000 square feet of new retail and restaurant space, two new buildings along Post Oak Boulevard, and a central green space replacing the existing office lawn. The upgrades are expected to enhance walkability and draw foot traffic to the area, benefiting Eataly and neighboring businesses alike.

Eataly’s U.S. Footprint Expands

Eataly operates locations in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Los Angeles, among other U.S. cities. The Houston opening reflects the brand’s strategy of targeting high-income, high-growth metro areas with diverse dining cultures. Each Eataly location combines retail, dining, and educational programming under one roof, creating what the company calls a “food destination” rather than a traditional restaurant. Houston’s rapidly growing population — the city has added nearly 100,000 residents since the start of the decade — and its status as one of the most diverse cities in the country make it a natural fit for the concept, which thrives on culinary curiosity and disposable income.

Part of a Broader Hospitality Wave

Eataly’s arrival is part of a broader wave of development reshaping Houston’s hospitality and retail landscape ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The JW Marriott Downtown is undergoing a multi-million-dollar expansion into the historic Battelstein’s Building, adding 56 guest rooms and a rooftop pool. In Memorial City, the Greenside project is transforming former warehouse space into a 35,000-square-foot retail complex anchored by an acre of green space, with restaurants, retail, wellness, beauty, and office tenants creating a walkable, family-friendly community hub. The Rice University Gateway Project, a $120 million redevelopment, is creating a pedestrian-friendly corridor between the campus and Rice Village. The confluence of projects signals sustained confidence in Houston’s consumer economy despite broader national uncertainty.
